PanamaFitness Retreats

From skyline to shoreline. City rooftops one day, Pacific point breaks the next.

A SALTY fitness retreat in Panama is a city-to-coast group fitness trip: rooftop workouts and city energy in Casco Viejo, Panama City's historic district, then surf lessons, beach training, and island excursions in Santa Catalina on the Pacific coast. Daily coach-led workouts, yoga, group dinners, and a crew of 24-32 guests - most of them travelling solo. Two very different Panamas, one trip, zero itinerary-planning on your end.

Why Panama

Most fitness retreats pick a lane: city energy or beach calm. Panama refuses to, and that's exactly why we love it.

You start in Casco Viejo - cobblestone streets, colonial plazas, street art, rooftop bars looking out over a glittering skyline, and a food scene that mixes local flavours with everything else the world shipped through the canal. Then you trade all of it for Santa Catalina, a small Pacific surf town where the pace drops, the swell picks up, and the biggest decision of your afternoon is board or hammock.

It's the contrast that makes it. The buzz and the calm, the sweat sessions and the beach naps, in one week.

Panama is also refreshingly easy as a destination: the US dollar is standard currency, Tocumen's flight connections are among the best in the Americas, and the country runs on roughly east-coast time - so the jet lag stays home even when you don't.

What You'll Actually Do

This is a fitness retreat in Panama, so yes, you'll train - but the menu is broad:

  • Daily SALTY workouts - strength, conditioning, and functional fitness on rooftops, beaches, and sand. Scaled to every level, from ease-in to push-hard
  • Surf lessons at Santa Catalina's breaks - one of Panama's best-known surf hubs, with coaching matched to your level whether it's your first paddle or your hundredth
  • Morning and sunset yoga - vinyasa flows, mobility, and recovery to balance the intensity
  • A day trip to Coiba National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage site offshore, with snorkelling over coral reefs, tropical fish, and sea turtles
  • Casco Viejo by night - walking tours, rooftop hangouts, group dinners, and the kind of evenings that turn strangers into a group chat

Mornings start with an optional class. Middays you're in the water or out exploring. Evenings are group dinners and rooftop sunsets. You set the pace - nothing is mandatory.

Who It's For

People who can't pick between a city trip and a surf trip, mostly. It suits solo travellers especially well - the majority of guests on SALTY trips arrive alone - plus friend groups who want a curated adventure without anyone having to play travel agent.

All fitness levels work here. If you want silence, meditation bells, and a juice cleanse, this is not your week. If you want to train hard, learn to surf, eat well, and see Panama beyond the resorts, it very much is.

Where It Happens

The trip runs between Panama City and Santa Catalina, on Panama's Pacific coast. Fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY) - Panama City's main hub, with direct flights from most of North America. We handle the moving parts between city and coast, including the trek out to Santa Catalina.

Santa Catalina itself is a genuine surf town: world-class breaks, golden beaches, and boat access to Coiba. Small, laid-back, and blissfully short on chain restaurants.

How a SALTY Trip in Panama Works

Book your spot, get yourself to PTY, and we take it from there - accommodation, training, surf coaching, excursions, and most meals, with some free meals out so you can explore the food scene yourself. Every session is optional. Sweat as much as feels good.

SALTY is a fitness travel company with one slogan: "Make fun of wellness." Panama, with its rooftop workouts and post-surf dinners, might be the most literal version of that we've got.
