What Is a SALTY Fitness Retreat, Really?
The Short Answer
A SALTY fitness retreat is a week-long group trip built around daily movement — workouts, surf, hikes, or yoga — in one destination, with everything from your room to the excursions planned for you. What makes it SALTY: real local food instead of cleanses, and a group of strangers who feel like friends by day two. Fun isn't a side effect here. It's the design. Put simply, SALTY is the fitness retreat for people who like to have fun.
Usually: One session a day, if that→At SALTY: 2–3 sessions daily, all optional
Usually: Quiet evenings, lights out early→At SALTY: Group dinners with music, then whatever the night brings
Usually: Strict meal plans and cleanses→At SALTY: Real local food, chef-prepared
Usually: You’re on your own to make friends→At SALTY: A group that feels like friends by day two
SALTY vs. a Quiet Spa Retreat: What’s the Difference?
Both are wellness retreats. They’re just not the same trip.
SALTY Fitness Retreat
Quiet Spa Retreat
Movement
2–3 sessions a day — strength, yoga, boxing, surf, whatever’s on deck
Often 1 session, slow paced
Meals
Real local food, chef-prepared — no calorie counting
Juice cleanses or strict meal plans
The Days
Packed with excursions and chances to surf. Time to celebrate is built in.
Quiet and unstructured, built around rest
Energy
High — laughing, music, new friends, plans for tomorrow
Low and hushed by design
Who It’s For
People who want to move their body and have a blast.
People who want silence and stillness
Fun Is Not the Side Effect. It’s the Plan.
We didn’t build SALTY by subtracting fun from wellness travel. We built it by putting fun back at the center.
We Don’t Punish, We Plan
No punishing bootcamps, no shame about the pancakes at breakfast. Every session is built to feel good, not to make up for anything.
The Itinerary is Art, not science
Surf lessons, hikes to waterfalls, market crawls, sunset boat trips — we shape each day like a composition, not a checklist. No two SALTY weeks look quite the same, on purpose.
Connecting is Easy.
Shared tables and shared workouts mean there’s no corner to disappear into, even if you wanted to. Even the rides between activities are shared. You’ll show up solo and leave with a group chat that outlives the trip. Friendship isn’t left to chance here — it’s built into the schedule.
A Workout Vacation, Not a Bootcamp
Some people call it a workout vacation. Others call it a fitness escape. At SALTY it means coached sessions in the morning and a real holiday the rest of the day. You train somewhere beautiful, then go and see it. SALTY is the fitness retreat for people who like to have fun.
What You’ll Actually Do
We offer 2–3 movement sessions daily, plus everything around them. Everything is optional and everything scales, so you don’t need to already be fit to show up.
Strength & Conditioning
Circuits, tempo work, partner drills, beach sprints. Challenging and fun.
Yoga Flow
Dynamic sequences synced to music. Heat-building movement followed by deep stretches.
Pilates / Burn
Mat-based, beat-driven sculpt. Ankle weights and bands, on top of your own bodyweight.
Soul Work
Sweaty meditation, SALTY style. High-intensity sequences or guided breathwork.
Boxing
Music-led and high-energy. Zero experience required, just gloves and endorphins.
Beach Sweat
Group HIIT on the sand with sprints and games. Partner challenges keep it fun.
Surf Lessons
Local instructors teach every skill level, with no pressure. The best workout is chasing waves.
Cultural Excursions
Markets, ruins, murals, hidden neighborhoods — led by people who actually live there.
Dance Parties
Live DJs, with group choreography or none at all. High energy and zero judgment. Just move.
Local Partners
Surf schools, chefs, guides, artisans — vetted locals who are part of the crew for the week.
Who Shows Up to a SALTY Retreat
Maybe Skip This If...
- ✗You want total silence and zero group activities
- ✗You need a rigid meal plan or calorie count
- ✗You’d rather relax by a pool for a week than get out and move
- ✗Trying new things — or meeting new people — isn’t your thing this year
No hard feelings. We’ll be here when the timing’s right.
Most of Our Guests Show Up Alone
Somewhere between the airport pickup and the first group dinner, “alone” stops being the word for it.
