About the Retreat

Sicily is the loud one. Peak season, peak summer, peak SALTY. August in southern Italy means Ferragosto — the weeks of the year when the whole country goes on vacation and everyone agrees, by unspoken pact, that work can wait. We time this retreat to ride that wave.

Mornings are high-intensity programming on the sand or in the yoga shala. Nicolina and Kennedy bring the heat — expect conditioning circuits, strength days, and yoga flows that leave you grateful, not destroyed. By 1 p.m. you're at Zuma Beach Club, feet in the sand, ordering lunch à la carte with an Aperol already sweating next to your plate.

Afternoons split between beach time, bike rides through the countryside, and cultural excursions. A day trip to Siracusa wanders through 2,500-year-old ruins and ends with gelato that ruins all future gelato. Quieter afternoons are about naps, cliff jumps, or doing laps between the beach umbrella and the bar.

Evenings are the thing people write home about. Sicilian dinners that last three hours by default. Pasta you'll think about on the flight home. Fresh seafood, local wines, hosted cocktail nights bartended by SALTY. At least one pizza night in town. At least one dance floor.

Bigger group (35–45) on purpose — Sicily is a retreat with scale. More people, more energy, more chances to find your person. If you want small and restorative, see Morocco or Costa Rica. If you want loud, sweaty, delicious summer with a built-in crew, this is the one.

The Verdict

Questions? Answers.

Everything you need to plan your trip.

Sicily is our most physically intense retreat — Sweat 9 on the SALTY Meter. Workouts are scalable (you can dial any session up or down), but the programming leans toward strength, conditioning, and HIIT with a high-skill coaching team. Bring the effort you want to bring. Zero pressure to hit every session.

August in southern Sicily is hot, yes — think high 80s to low 90s °F (30–33 °C) with sea breezes. We schedule workouts for cooler morning hours, lean into the water, and let the afternoon rhythm be slower. The region is very safe and well-traveled. Pack light fabrics, reef-safe sunscreen, and a swimsuit you actually like.

35–45 guests — one of our bigger retreats. The energy is loud, social, and celebratory. You'll meet more people than on our smaller trips, but the group still feels close by mid-week. Great for guests who thrive on big-group energy.

EU / Schengen rules apply. Most North American and UK passport holders don't need a visa for stays under 90 days, but double-check your country's rules before booking. We'll share pre-trip documents with everything you need.

You'll still eat incredibly well — Sicilian food is vegetable-forward, seafood-heavy, and universally delicious. Drinking is never required. Plenty of guests stay sober through the week and have a blast. We make the hosted cocktail nights fun whether you're drinking water or wine.
