SicilyFitness Retreats

Peak summer energy. La dolce vita with a sweat factor.

A SALTY fitness retreat in Sicily is a high-energy group fitness trip on the island's southeastern coast: daily beach workouts and yoga at Maria del Focallo, lunches at a beach club, day trips to baroque towns and 2,500-year-old ruins, and long Italian dinners with a big, welcoming group of 35-45 guests. It's the highest-energy trip in the SALTY lineup - sweat in the morning, Sicily all afternoon, and the best group dinners we know how to throw.

Why Sicily

August in southern Italy means Ferragosto - the stretch of summer when the whole country goes on vacation and collectively agrees that work can wait. We time our Sicily fitness retreat to ride exactly that wave. The beaches are alive, the towns are buzzing, and nobody anywhere is checking email.

Maria del Focallo, in the province of Ragusa, is a long stretch of fine sand and turquoise water on Sicily's southeastern tip. Within a short drive: Marzamemi, a fishing village turned golden-hour snack stop. Noto, with its UNESCO-listed baroque streets. Siracusa, where Greek ruins, Roman history, and world-ending gelato all share a postcode. Mount Etna smokes gently in the background on the drive down from the airport, just to set the tone.

What You'll Actually Do

This is not the restorative one. This is the most fun one:

  • Daily SALTY workouts - high-intensity programming on the sand or in the yoga shala. Conditioning circuits, strength days, all coached, all scalable, all wrapped before the day heats up
  • Daily yoga - flows in the shala or on the beach, challenging in the good way
  • Zuma Beach Club, every day - lunch on the sand, feet in the sand, nowhere to be by 1 p.m.
  • A Siracusa day trip - Greek ruins, street food markets, baroque streets, and gelato that ruins all future gelato
  • Bike rides and village hops - bikes on-site for coastal countryside rides, plus group runs to Marzamemi and Noto
  • Evenings together - hosted dinners, a legendary pizza night, and a proper Ferragosto farewell

Quieter afternoons exist too - naps, cliff jumps, slow laps between the beach and the pool, and the noble Italian art of doing nothing until dinner.

The rhythm is simple: train hard before the heat builds, then hand your afternoon to Sicily.

Who It's For

High-energy travellers who thrive on a full schedule. Solo travellers do brilliantly here - roughly 70% of guests on this trip come alone, and the big group means you're absorbed into the chaos by dinner one. It's also the pick for culture lovers: few fitness retreats put Noto, Siracusa, and Marzamemi within reach of your morning workout.

Chasing a quiet, wellness-only week? Choose a different SALTY trip (Costa Rica says hi). Sicily is our most vibrant week, full stop. You've been warned, lovingly.

Where It Happens

Home base is a beachside property at Maria del Focallo - steps from the water, with a dedicated yoga space, a pool, and rooms that are comfortable and Sicilian in the best way: stone floors, shuttered windows, whitewashed walls. The beach setup is ours: sunbeds, umbrellas, room to spread out. Zuma Beach Club is walking distance.

Fly into Catania Fontanarossa (CTA), about 90 minutes away. Transfers from there are handled.

How a SALTY Trip in Sicily Works

Book your room, land in Catania, and surrender your planning duties. Workouts, yoga, beach club days, excursions, and group dinners are all built in - and every bit of it is optional. Nobody has ever been forced to do a burpee in Italy on our watch.

Trips start from $2,149 for the week. SALTY's whole philosophy is "Make fun of wellness" - and Sicily in peak summer is that philosophy at full volume.
