About the Retreat

This is SALTY's urban surf trip. We're booking out an entire luxury villa complex in the heart of El Tunco — four connected buildings, four private pools, rooftop patios, and terraces that overlook one of Central America's best surf breaks. You walk out of your room and you're either at the pool, at the gym, at the yoga terrace, or three minutes from the ocean.

The coaching lineup is stacked. Erin, Nate, and Telvin are joined by Hustl+Flow (Courtney & Connor) from Waterloo — a team that runs some of the most loved strength and conditioning programming in Ontario. Expect serious training paired with proper recovery.

Food is the wildcard. Instead of one chef, we rotate local chefs through the villa, each cooking a different cuisine — one day Salvadoran, one day Mediterranean, one day Japanese, one day whatever the chef's specialty is that night. It's the best way to taste the range of what this country can do in a week.

Afternoons are yours. Surf session round two. Tamanique Waterfall hike. Gym hours. Pool laps. Walk the strip, try the pupusas (seriously, try the pupusas), watch the sun drop into the Pacific. Nights are hosted cocktail evenings at the villa or out in El Tunco, where the bars run late and the whole town knows somebody.

20–24 guests, on purpose. Small enough for real friendships, big enough for energy. If you've been eyeing Central America and want the sweat, the surf, and the food without renting your own place and figuring it out solo — this one's built for you.

El Salvador runs high on culture, sweat, and party, medium on adventure, low on rest. This is a trip for guests who want the private-villa-with-the-crew experience, with serious training, rotating chefs, and El Tunco's nightlife right outside. Small group (20–24) means the villa feels like it's yours.

The Verdict

Questions? Answers.

Everything you need to plan your trip.

Yes — and easier to travel in than most people expect. El Salvador has seen a significant shift in recent years, and El Tunco in particular is a well-established surf town with steady tourism and a walkable, safe main strip. We work with local teams on the ground, airport transfers are covered, and we'll share practical safety tips in your pre-trip docs.

Not at all. Plenty of guests don't surf — they train, hike, hang at the pool, and eat their way through the chef rotation. If you want to try, local instructors can run lessons for all levels (not included, easy to book on-site).

Group rooms (3-person or 4-person) are only for friends booking together. All guests in a Group room need to book simultaneously and agree to share beds. They're the lowest price points — great for friend groups, not for solo travelers or pairs. If you're coming solo, pick a Premium Double or Standard Double and we'll match you.

Most passports (including Canadian, American, and most European) don't need a visa for stays under 90 days. Check your country's specifics before booking. Pre-trip docs include everything you need.

The villa setup. Most retreats book into a hotel or lodge — this one takes over an entire four-building luxury complex, with four private pools, a full on-site gym, and rooftop terraces. The whole property is the group's for the week. Add the Hustl+Flow coaching and the rotating chef program, and it's a very specific kind of week you can't really replicate.
