What it is
A free day event in Ottawa. Run or walk an easy 5k along the river, then head back inside for music, coffee, cold drinks and food from some of the city’s local favourites. Everything raised goes to The Ottawa Cancer Foundation, through Hybrid Heart.
We wanted to give Ottawa’s running community a proper day out — one room, every crew in the city, and a cause worth showing up for.
So: an easy 5k anyone can do, then a party that runs until four. Come for the run, stay for the room, and leave having helped a good thing along.

Hybrid Heart is a new community trail race bringing the community together in memory of Carole Rocheleau and in support of The Ottawa Cancer Foundation.

Tickets are free. Grab one so we know how much coffee to order — and so you’re in the draw before you walk through the door.
Good to know
Do I have to run?
No. There’s a 5k walk group with its own leader, and you’re just as welcome to skip the route entirely and meet us back at La Ruelle.
Is it actually free?
Yes. The ticket costs nothing. Donating is optional, and every dollar donated goes to The Ottawa Cancer Foundation through Hybrid Heart.
How do the giveaways work?
Showing up earns you a ballot. You can earn more by donating, by registering for the Hybrid Heart race, and through a few other things we’ll run on the day. Winners are drawn in the room, so you need to be there.
Where exactly is it?
La Ruelle at Zibi, on the Gatineau side of the river. There’s parking on site.
Can I bring people?
Please do. Bring your club, bring your friends, bring the person who keeps saying they’ll start running. Everyone gets their own free ticket.
What should I bring?
Something to run or walk in, and a towel if you plan on getting in the cold plunge.
